Chlorat

Als Chlorate bezeichnet man Salze der Chlorsäure HClO₃. Sie enthalten als Anion das Chlorat-Ion (ClO₃^-).

Chlor weist dabei die Oxidationszahl +5 auf.

Wichtige Chlorate sind Natriumchlorat und Kaliumchlorat.
